Day 5- UR Priceless Blog Hop

UR PRICELESS and GIVEAWAY!!

Finally it is my day for the UR Priceless Blog Hop! Katherine at Sew Me Something Good  is our leader and I give her a grateful thank you! She has been right with us making sure that things were going well. I have to give Madame Samm of  Sew WE Quilt a special "Thank You"! She encouraged me to try this blog hop when I was hesitating to join in. I am so glad that she did because I had a blast making these cute little purses!!! What a great leader she is!!! BTW, you can purchase her pattern for these cute little purses  here.

Now to my purses and I have done quite a few. My first purse was done with some left over fabric I had...didn't want to mess up some of my special fabric. BUT  thanks to the great tutorial of Madame Samm, I whizzed though the first one.(Click on photos to see larger views)

Here is my first purse (inside and out!)

Then I started using all of my favorite fabrics that I bought just knowing that someday I would find the perfect project! And this was the one!! I made all of my purses without purchasing any new fabric. It feels so good to use up some of my stash. One thing I will tell you that really helped me with my arthritic fingers. Needle nose pliers! I just grabbed the needle and it came through the fabric and frame so easily.  Here are some of my purses:

Don't you just love this little red bird?

I love my cute little cats!

I decided that it would be fun to quilt this purse. The diamonds made it easy!

Had to have a Christmas purse, too!

I love this Farmdale fabric.

Now I really got going because I decided to enlarge the pattern to fit my 5" frames. I had fabric that I loved but the pattern was way too big to fit the smaller frame. So here is my take on larger purses. I decided to try some techniques that I had never tried . I decided to try some hexies and had a great time doing so.I can see why everyone says they are so addictive...kinda' like these purses! Can you tell that I love my little red bird because he shows up again! Then I decided that since I had a cat purse, I needed one with cute little dogs. I cut out a couple of the dogs, put them together,  and used them for appliques. What fun I had!

Here is my kitty purse from both sides with cats on the inside also.
Here is that little red bird again! Thought he looked good in the middle.
Here are my appliqued doggies. Not too bad for a first attempt.

You think I was finished? Well, no. I realized that I had some great college fabric that was begging to be used.. My son went to University of Florida and will always be a Gator, but he now teaches at Mississippi State so I had to make a purse for each!

Front, back , inside and bottom. Pretty proud that the bottom came together so well. GO GATORS!

Front, back and bottom. GO STATE!
These were all fun to make but I still had  one more to go. I had to make a "girly girl" purse for my granddaughter! She loves pink and green so that is what I worked with. Here it is!!!

I love how it turned out! Lace, buttons, pink and green. The buttons are really a medium pink but they are showing up a bit darker. I can't wait to give this to Maddie for Christmas.

Now that you have seen what I have made for this hop be sure to visit everyone who are presenting there purses today: For the rest of the schedule just click on the UR Priceless icon to the right.

  1. It's obvious you were having a great time, because you made so many! Each one is just too cute, and I can't pick a favorite. My favorite Christmas tradition is making mulled cider - just spices, no alcohol. Thank you for a chance to win the wonderful fabrics.

  17. My favorite holiday tradition is the slow way my family opens gifts. We go one at a time and really show off what we got and discuss any "good deal" stories behind it. We even take a break in the middle of gifts, eat, then finish. So even if there are only a few gifts each, it makes the opening last longer.
