Finally it is here! The Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day.....or week actually! My first giveaway is some cute little "paper dolls". Well, they are really fabric dolls but you know what I mean! I got the fabric last Christmas so that I could make them up for my granddaughter and this giveaway! They are so much fun to make...a little tedious but fun! The dolls have a stiff interfacing to make them stand up. The clothes are backed with flannel so that they stick to the dolls. I used to love playing with paper dolls and I hope that little girls still love them!

Here is the doll with one outfit. |
|
Two of the little girls |
|
Three of the girls all dressed up and ready to go! |
|
Don't leave me behind! |
As you can see, I have embellished the outfits with all kind of bling! You do know that diamonds are a girl's best friend...along with emeralds and rubies!!!! (Remember that I have added the stick on gems if you have a small child under 3.)
If you would like to win a set of these dolls for that special little girl, just leave me a comment. Any comment will do but if you have a fond memory of playing with paper dolls that would be especially fun! ( My favorite paper dolls was an Elizabeth Taylor set. We played and played with her. Of course back then she was very young and very slender with loads of fancy Hollywood clothes!) For a second entry, become a follower. Be sure to leave a second comment telling me so. I will ship internationally.
Thanks for stopping in and visiting and don't forget to visit all the other fantastic sites on

ReplyDeleteThese are sweet! I have fond memories of playing with paper dolls but I must have been older than my daughters because they are 2 and 3 and get very frustrated with the little tabs and everything falling off! These might be more satisfying! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would pass these on to a little girl who lost all her toys in Hurricane Sandy, but first I would have to play with them at least once.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those!!! i LOVED paper dolls as a kid. my grandma would always buy the paper dopll books for my cousins and I to play with at her house.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! What a great idea! When I was young I had a set of Alice In Wonderland paper dolls...my mom saved them and I just passed them on to my daughter! Although she can only play with them while supervised.

Oh my gosh... you are talking to the "paper doll queen"! When me and my sister were little about 3rd grade-ish...while traveling or visiting ...we had paper dolls. EVery time we would travel, we'd get a new "set" back when they came in the folder and the front and back of the folder were pockets to keep the dolls and clothes in. My favorite was a set that had 6 dolls...3 for me, 3 for my sister and we played the tabs off them dolls! Oh, what a fond memory. I tried to get my grand daughter into paper dolls, but they just didn't hold her attention! Oh well!
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten how much I used to love playing with paper dolls. And when I realized that I could draw my own clothes in whatever styles and colours I chose, I was thrilled. My daughter didn't take to them, but I think my granddaughters might. They certainly enjoy playing with fabric scraps, so the love of paper dolls may have skipped a generation.
ReplyDeleteI can remember twin girl paper dolls called Nora and something else. They used to be featured in a Women's Weekly monthly magazine.
ReplyDeleteI love paper dolls. I had a beautiful set when I was a little girl and played with them all the time until my mother insisted I share half of them with one of my cousins that didn't have any and was moving away and would no longer be able to come to our house to help me play with them.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to win this giveaway I would give these lovely dolls to my eight year old daughter who enjoys playing with paper dolls as much as I used to.

ReplyDeleteHere's a memory: my mom was a registered nurse and I used to make paper dolls from her uniform catalog and then re-enact General Hospital storylines.

Oh, I do remember playing with paper dolls, but getting very very frustrated with the little tabs that were supposed to keep the clothes on her. Flannel backing is a MUCH better idea! I have two daughters that would love this!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter would have lots of fun with these, and what a great idea for how to make them. I remember spending hours with the scissors as a little girl, carefully cutting out the dresses. I remember one book of paper doll bears that had cute handwriting-style descriptions of the clothes next to them ("warm coat for ice-skating days" and such) - I didn't want to throw them out, so each bear got an envelope for themselves and their clothes with alllll the descriptions taped neatly on the envelope.
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter would love these. I loved playing with paper dolls and making clothing for our dolls. My granddaughter recently told me that she does have a few paper dolls she plays with.
ReplyDeleteI waa paper doll obsessive
