ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite New Year traditions (and we like NY more than Christmas here in Russia) is preparing an enourmous bowl of the salad associated only with New Year in our country. Inside Russia it is called 'Olivier', but anywhere outside Russia it's called 'Russian salad'. All the jokes about the New Year always include allusions to the Olivier salad, such as jokes about people sleeping with their faces in Olivier. I know it doesn't sound funny, as often happens with internal national jokes :-)
