SEW MAMA SEW GIVEAWAY DAY!!!!!

I love Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day! It is so much fun to visit new blogs! It is a great way to make new friends and also a chance to win great giveaways. I keep thinking I will blog more but I am so busy reading other folk's blogs that I forget to post on my own.  Please check out some of my posts....not too hard to do since I don't blog too often...I mean to, but just keep putting it off.

This year I am giving away two great items...2 prizes, 1 lucky winner! First is a Moda Petits Fours Bake Shop Box. It contains two stacks of 2 1/2 inch X 2 1/2 assorted fabric squares - 160 squares in all. One stack is Aster Manor by 3 sisters and the second is Collections for a Cause-Alliance by Howard Marcus. Also included in the box is a project sheet with instructions on how to make a Prairie Flower pin cushion.  The second giveaway is American Quilter Magazine -November 2013 which includes the wonderful "Retreat Tote pattern" by Clover and Violet!   8. We open our gifts on Christmas eve and even though the kids are all grown, the ones who stay all night always seem to have presents from Santa under the tree the next morning.

We all have to leave the room where the christmas tree is standing (we are celebrating christmas at the evening of the 24th in germany), my father will light the candles (yes, only real one ^^) and then we are allowed to come in. Being grown up this still is a magical moment for me, the smell of the tree and of the bee wax candles, the soft light reflecting at the christmas ornaments and presents under the tree... Just magical :)

  27. I love those mini-charms. I got quite a few at Quiltcon and I have been collecting more since. Our favorite tradition is Christmas Eve service. I see they feature Jacque Gehring in the magazine. We were lucky to have her here in Austin for a trunk show. She is a delightful person.

  40. We make a dried bean soup mix for gifts for our friends and coworkers. It involves the whole family mixing the beans, rebagging them, adding the recipe and distributing them. I just love it! Thank you for your generous giveaway!

  66. my siblings and I always woke up at 4:30 am and waited for my parents to wake up. Even now, as a parent myself, I can't help myself! I'm up even before my kids. My husband longs for the chance to sleep in. :)

  89. My family and I are not Mexican or Hispanic at all...but we always (since I can remember) spend days preparing for Christmas meal which is from scratch Mexican food. The good stuff. The real stuff...verde, mole, tamales, homemade tortillas...divine!

  103. I have to go with our Christmas Eve tradition which over time has come to mean more to me than even Christmas morning. We do Christmas Eve jammies for the kids from mom and a stuffed animal from dad. Then we watch a family movie, then go for a ride to see lights...in jammies lol After we come home we make hot cocoa and read Twas the Night Before Christmas. I don't know, it just seems innocent and magical to me. :) Thanks for the smile and the chance to win.

  107. Very nice! We have a late-Christmas open-house party we host, usually the end of the first week of January. We call it The Last Noel, and we blast Christmas music and serve Christmas cookies and it's become surprisingly popular among all our friends.

I fix my famous breakfast casserole, French toast, and fruit salad ...all on our best Christmas dishes, with candles and cloth napkins.   155. One of my favourite New Year traditions (and we like NY more than Christmas here in Russia) is preparing an enourmous bowl of the salad associated only with New Year in our country. Inside Russia it is called 'Olivier', but anywhere outside Russia it's called 'Russian salad'. All the jokes about the New Year always include allusions to the Olivier salad, such as jokes about people sleeping with their faces in Olivier. I know it doesn't sound funny, as often happens with internal national jokes :-)
