I Have Winners!!!!!!

I had such a great time this week with the Sew Mama Sew giveaway! I am sorry I couldn't reply to each of you but I just couldn't keep up but be assured I read them all  and enjoyed each and every one. Now for the fun! The winners.

First the winner of the Fabric Paper dolls is Lori of Ohio .  She had such a nice comment: Oh my Grandgirlie would be sooooo delighted to have these! They are Adorable! Yep...played with paper dolls alot when I was little...had a bunch too! Remember my Aunt used to cut the Betsy McCall's from her magazines too.

Since I had such a nice response to the Fabric Gift bag giveaway, I decided to give away a second set of bags.

The first winner is Anna of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Her winning comment was: We use reusable bags all the time- my mother uses fabric bags for our Christmas stockings now. These bags look great and Would be a perfect gift for my mom as our family keeps growing larger these days.
Thanks for participating in the blog hop.

The second winner of a set of Fabric Gift bags is Megan of California. Her comment was :
I use wrapping paper, but only because it's easiest. I've actually been using the same two (extra large!) rolls of reversible wrapping paper for about 10 years. Yay Costco! However, I love making reusable stuff, so I do have a couple of reusable gift bags... I'd love to add more to my collection though!

Again I want to thank everyone who dropped by and visited. Since I am almost to 100 followers, maybe another giveaway will be happening soon! Congratulations to the three winners!

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway 2!!!!!!

I love the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day(Week) so much that I decided to have two giveaways this December! I am so glad that they moved the date forward so that Christmas giveaways can be included this year. I have a set of fabric Christmas gift bags for a giveaway. There are many several sizes included so you can wrap all kinds of gifts!
The is lots of glitter on these bags even though it is hard to see.

Santa, gingerbread men, and a lovely Christmas village adorn these bags.

Here is a close up of two of the glittery bags so that you can tell they are glittery!

Here is a close up of the village on the small bag.

Each bag has an attached ribbon so that you can tie everything up with a bow! The best thing about these bags is that they are reusable! No more paper and ribbon to throw away! Just put the bags away til next year and then refill them!!  I will include some name tags to go on the ribbon so you will be ready to wrap as soon as you receive the bags!

Just leave a comment about your favorite wrapping technique(bet you can guess mine!) to win the set of 8 bags. For a second chance become a follower! Be sure to post a second comment so I know! I will ship internationally.

Don't forget to check out all the other great giveaways from Sew Mama Sew. The giveaways start on Monday December 3rd and ends Friday December 7th.

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway!!!! Part 1

Finally it is here! The Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day.....or week actually! My first giveaway is some cute little "paper dolls". Well, they are really fabric dolls but you know what I mean! I got the fabric last Christmas so that I could make them up for my granddaughter and this giveaway! They are so much fun to make...a little tedious but fun! The dolls have a stiff interfacing to make them stand up. The clothes are backed with flannel so that they stick to the dolls. I used to love playing with paper dolls and I hope that little girls still love them!

Here is the doll with one outfit.
Two of the little girls

Three of the girls all dressed up and ready to go!

Don't leave me behind!
As you can see, I have embellished the outfits with all kind of bling! You do know that diamonds are a girl's best friend...along with emeralds and rubies!!!! (Remember that I have added the stick on gems if you have a small child under 3.)

If you would like to win a set of these dolls for that special little girl, just leave me a comment. Any comment will do but if you have a fond memory of playing with paper dolls that would be especially fun! ( My favorite paper dolls was an Elizabeth Taylor set. We played and played with her. Of course back then she was very young and very slender with loads of fancy Hollywood clothes!) For a second entry, become a follower. Be sure to leave a second comment telling me so. I will ship internationally.

Thanks for stopping in and visiting and don't forget to visit all the other fantastic sites on Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day.  The Giveaway starts on Monday December 3rd and ends on Friday December 7th.

Day 5- UR Priceless Blog Hop

UR PRICELESS and GIVEAWAY!!

Finally it is my day for the UR Priceless Blog Hop! Katherine at Sew Me Something Good  is our leader and I give her a grateful thank you! She has been right with us making sure that things were going well. I have to give Madame Samm of  Sew WE Quilt a special "Thank You"! She encouraged me to try this blog hop when I was hesitating to join in. I am so glad that she did because I had a blast making these cute little purses!!! What a great leader she is!!! BTW, you can purchase her pattern for these cute little purses  here.

Now to my purses and I have done quite a few. My first purse was done with some left over fabric I had...didn't want to mess up some of my special fabric. BUT  thanks to the great tutorial of Madame Samm, I whizzed though the first one.(Click on photos to see larger views)

Here is my first purse (inside and out!)

Then I started using all of my favorite fabrics that I bought just knowing that someday I would find the perfect project! And this was the one!! I made all of my purses without purchasing any new fabric. It feels so good to use up some of my stash. One thing I will tell you that really helped me with my arthritic fingers. Needle nose pliers! I just grabbed the needle and it came through the fabric and frame so easily.  Here are some of my purses:

Don't you just love this little red bird?

I love my cute little cats!

I decided that it would be fun to quilt this purse. The diamonds made it easy!

Had to have a Christmas purse, too!

I love this Farmdale fabric.

Now I really got going because I decided to enlarge the pattern to fit my 5" frames. I had fabric that I loved but the pattern was way too big to fit the smaller frame. So here is my take on larger purses. I decided to try some techniques that I had never tried . I decided to try some hexies and had a great time doing so.I can see why everyone says they are so addictive...kinda' like these purses! Can you tell that I love my little red bird because he shows up again! Then I decided that since I had a cat purse, I needed one with cute little dogs. I cut out a couple of the dogs, put them together,  and used them for appliques. What fun I had!

Here is my kitty purse from both sides with cats on the inside also.
Here is that little red bird again! Thought he looked good in the middle.
Here are my appliqued doggies. Not too bad for a first attempt.

You think I was finished? Well, no. I realized that I had some great college fabric that was begging to be used.. My son went to University of Florida and will always be a Gator, but he now teaches at Mississippi State so I had to make a purse for each!

Front, back , inside and bottom. Pretty proud that the bottom came together so well. GO GATORS!

Front, back and bottom. GO STATE!
These were all fun to make but I still had  one more to go. I had to make a "girly girl" purse for my granddaughter! She loves pink and green so that is what I worked with. Here it is!!!

I love how it turned out! Lace, buttons, pink and green. The buttons are really a medium pink but they are showing up a bit darker. I can't wait to give this to Maddie for Christmas.

Now that you have seen what I have made for this hop be sure to visit everyone who are presenting there purses today: For the rest of the schedule just click on the UR Priceless icon to the right.

TRAVELING STASH

I was lucky enough to win another Traveling Stash! They sure are fun! I was so excited when the box got here, that I forgot to take a photo! Even though the box was brand new, it was already starting to split because it was so full! I want to turn this Stash around fast so I went through the box quickly and picked out what I wanted. There was so much to chose from but here is what I picked( Click to see larger version):

I want to learn how to FMQ so the book should be a big help. Aren't the fabrics just wonderful?

Now it is time for me to add to the box. I decided to "freshen up" the Stash a bit. I decided it needed some Christmas goodies since it is that time of the year. So I included a Michael Miller Holiday fat quarter set, some Holiday rotary cut 5" squares, a yard of bright yellow Tidings of Great Joy from Quilting Treasures, a FQ of Studio E TREES Green from their Holiday Magic collection plus two other Fat Quarters that I don't know their pedigrees(but I like them)!

A close up of the 5 FQ's in the Michael Miller collection.
But I wanted to  include some everyday fabric also, so I chose 4 FQ of OOP Tula Pink's Flutterby,
some Moda Neptune charm squares, a cute little FQ of daisies and ladybugs, along with 2 FQ of Riley Blake's Rainy Days and Mondays. I also included a copy of  sew what? BAGS  by Lexie Barnes.

And that isn't all...I am adding some little notions, zippers, etc. and a surprise but you have to WIN to see what the extras are!

Now of course, there are some rules! (Aren't there always?) So here they are:

Rules:
1. Be an active blogger. Post about receiving the box and the giveaway on your blog in a timely manner.
2. There's a note in the box that logs where the box has been. Please add your info and place the note back in the box.
3. There's a list of Rules and Guidelines in the box. Please read and follow these and return the list to the box.
4. You may take anything you like from the box. Just replace every item with comparable quilt shop quality items equal to the amount taken.
5. Ship the box to the next person in a reasonable amount of time.
6. Due to the amount of postage shipping is only within the USA.

How do you win?  Just keep reading!

Giveaway:
1. Leave a comment on this post about your favorite sewing organizing method! That should be  fun reading. I sure need to learn how to organize. My one hint for organization is using new pizza boxes to keep projects in. They close tightly and are easy to store in a small area.

2. For a second chance, you can follow my blog,  not that I am all that exciting! Comment that you are a follower.

3. For a third chance, mention this giveaway on your blog. Comment that you have.

The giveaway ends at midnight EDT on Saturday, October 20th. I will draw the winning number on the 21st and get the package in the mail! Be sure that I have a way to get in touch with you!

That is it! Easy Peasy! Good luck to you all!!!!!

Haven't been here in a long while so lots has been happening! First, I won TWO giveaways on the Dots On Dots Blog Hop! Yes, two! First I won some wonderful fabric from Sharon at Vroomansquilts. It is a Pickles panel by Brian Crane for Timeless Treasure. Along with the panel is a yard of coordinating fabric.
Here is a peek at it!
I am going to make a small quilt for ME!! I have never kept a quilt that I have made so this one is for me, me, me! Isn't it too cute?

My second prize was some lovely "dotty" fabric from Nati at Natilittlethings. See!

I am going to make a cute little coin purse from some of this.

A Giveaway you won't believe!

Huge-Monster-Crazy-Giant Giveaway over at It's Sew Kiki. You have to check it out because you will not believe your eyes! I am not kidding....she is giving away everything but the kitchen sink(maybe I had better check again...that might be included!)  So run, don't walk over there and join in the fun!!!!

Friday, June 29, 2012

Now that I have posted all the giveaway winners, I can tell you about my morning at Joann's! Our store was just renovated(and boy, did it need it!) So for three days they are having a great sale. The first fifty people each day receive a $5 gift card. Add in the fact that I had a 50% off one item coupon, and I had a fun morning! I have been seeing all of these great patterns for lunch bags and pool bags that are lined with laminated cotton BUT it is expensive and I wonder how it sews so this was a great opportunity to try it out. The fabric was $13 a yard, but half that price and add in the $5 card so the total cost was $1.50! Who can beat that? And I think it is gorgeous!  I also found a couple cute fabrics to make some small bags that I couldn't resist. Great shopping...I only spent $7.93 and have some really cute stuff to work with!

The fabric on the left is a cute Robert Kaufman print. Who doesn't love cats and sewing! The top right is the laminated cotton and I just love the bird print on the bottom right...Isn't it adorable?

Giveaway Winners

All right, it is time to announce the winners for my 3 giveaways! What a fun week it was(well, except for Tropical Storm Debbie who dropped 12 or so inches of rain on us!)

The winner of the Traveling Stash  is Karen P. Congratulations and I hope you have as much fun with it as I did! I have sent you an email.

The winner of the Sewing Mat is Connie. Congrats! Hope you like it as much as I do! An email is on the way to  you.

And the final winner...no make that two winners  (because I could only squeeze so many pattern envelopes into the mailing envelope) of the Children's patterns are: Tricia and Southern Gal.

Emails are on the way to both of you! I am throwing in a little surprise with the patterns that I hope you can use and enjoy!

Thanks to all of you who entered and check in whenever you can because I have some other giveaways planned for the future!

Would you believe another giveaway?

One is good, two is better, and I guess three is best! While I was going through all of my patterns and such, I realized that I had a bunch  for little girls dresses that no longer will fit my granddaughter(Most are size 1-4). Why keep them when I can have a giveaway and someone who can use them can win! So I will stuff as many patterns in a flat envelope as I can and send it on to the winner! Here are some of the patterns I found.

How do you win? Just leave a comment, any comment will do but I do love hearing about sewing for kids and their reactions! For a second chance, follow my blog and comment that you do. For a third chance, mention the giveaway(s) on your blog and let me know that you did!  Giveaway ends June 28th at midnight with the winner chosen on the 29th. Please be sure that I can get in touch with you!

Another Giveaway!

I figure that if one giveaway is good, then two must be better! So here is a giveaway open to all! It is a cute little ironing mat that I made using Stephanie's tutorial  at Sewing by Stephanie. It is bright and cheery. I had fun making it and it is thick so should  be good for ironing. This sure makes it easier to press your quilt pieces! The photos aren't the greatest but I hope you can get an idea how it looks. The mat is 30" X 18".

How do you win it? Just leave a comment about a book you love! Since I got my Kindle Fire, I read even more than I did so I love to hear about new books!
