Not much thrift shopping to be done in our town. Mostly Goodwill and Salvation Army, but I hit the jackpot today! Someone had told me to try the Goodwill on the other side of town....good idea!
It had so much more than the one that is nearer me! I had to force myself to leave! What did I get?And what did I spend? $11 is the answer to the second question....and what I got? Top left is a Martha Stewart dish towel(now I know why folks like them...they are huge) and next to it, another dish towel. I am going to make my daughter-in-law an apron with the MS and I am thinking of adding a pocket of the other one...the greens are exactly the same! Next up, in front of MS is a baby sized quilt that really needs some help but the blocks are put together well, the backing not so much. I figure I can remove the backing, add batting and then try my hand at machine quilting. Since it was only $1.99 I can't go wrong! In the center is 4 1/2 yards of some chintz(how old is it? The label was from Zayre's...how long ago was that?) How often can you get that much fabric for $1.99? Next to it is the blue fabric that was sold as a sheet. Actually it is a piece of Cranston fabric that someone hemmed so all I have to do is cut off the hemming and I have a huge piece of fabric for practically no money....the kind I like! Down in front are three pillow cases...boy, can you tell the center one is from the 70's? But the two on the left go with the vintage pieces I won so now I have quite a collection. Just need to find the time to make something! So what do you think of my finds! (Click on photo to see it bigger)I am really happy....and I forgot! I also bought a plastic bag with those looms that you weave pot holders with...not too much of the loops but I can get them. Now my granddaughter just has to get a bit older! So all in all, it was a quite successful day!

I AM SO LUCKY!

When I won three prizes in the SewMamaSew giveaway, I couldn't believe it. I never win anything....well, I guess I can't say that again because believe it or not, I won two great prizes in the SEWN giveaway.

Up above is the first prize I won. It is a gorgeous scissor fob with a pair of blue stork embroidery scissors. It has a beautiful button covered in Wonderland fabric! Thank you so much Pam from
The Best Laid Plans blog.

My second giveaway is this cute little pincushion from Nicole at Craftapalooza! She asked for favorite colors(well, actually she asked for "colours"*g*) and I provided a couple of choices and asked her to surprise me. When the pincushion arrives here from Australia, I will post a photo of the real thing.

Again, thanks to Pam and Nicole for my great giveaways and all the other bloggers who made this event so much fun!

AND THE WINNER IS!

I want to thank everyone for coming by and visiting my new little blog! I had so much fun with this giveaway...Guess it is true that it is better to give than to receive! The number picked for the 3 fat quarters, 5 (I added one!) zippers and the Quilt Label Fabric sheets is.......
JOYCE ! Congratulations!

I had decided that if there were at least 75 comments left, I would add a second giveaway and we just made it! So off to Random Generator I went again! And the second winner is.. TASHA! Now you(and she) may be wondering what she won since I belatedly added a second prize. I went looking through my fabric closet and found this really pretty set of fat quarters all wrapped up in ribbon. I think it is really pretty...hope Tasha does also!

I have emailed both of you so please email me back and let me know your mailing addresses so I can get your giveaways off! The winners will have three days to get in contact with me. If the prize isn't claimed by Thursday, June 11th at 8 P.M., a new winner will be randomly selected sometime on Friday. I had lots of fun and I hope everyone who commented did, too. Check back here because I think I may do another giveaway soon because I like meeting new sewing friends from all around the world!

ETA: Both giveaways have been claimed!!!!!

SEWN GIVEAWAY

Since I can not draw the winning number until I get home from work tomorrow, I will extend the posting time until 3 PM EDT on Monday. I will draw a number(or maybe two...I like surprises, also!) as soon as I get home and announce the winner at 5 PM EDT tomorrow. Thanks to all of you for visiting and making such nice comments. I hope that I didn't make anyone "dizzy" today while I was playing with my background!

OK everyone, I am going to bite the bullet and join the party! Since I was so lucky in the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway, I think that it is only fair that I give something back! So for my first ever giveaway, here are the goodies I am offering:

3 Fat Quarters(hope you like polka dots!)
4 10" zippers
A package of Quilt Label Fabric Sheets

I love making my own labels and it is soooo easy! I didn't use the templates that comes in the package but used Avery Templates. I easily fit 30 labels on a sheet. It was so much fun picking out my logo and then printing it up myself. Here is one of the first labels I made.

I guess you are wondering how to win this giveaway package! Well, it is really easy. Just leave a comment in this post. Nothing fancy, just Hi! or maybe even tell me what logo you will use on your label if you win. I will leave comments open until midnight(EDT), Sunday June 7th and I'll pick the winner by a random draw on Monday June 8th as soon as I get home from work! Everyone is welcome to join in no matter where you live! Make sure you leave me a way to contact you!

Hey, while I am at it, why don't you check out these great giveaways, also!
Dawn Hays Designs is giving away 3 prizes!
MooBear Designs has a brooch and t-shirt!
Ravenhill is giving away some great things!
Crafty Girls Workshop is offering charm pack, fabric and a pattern!
Glitter, vinyl and thread is offering a 6 pack of vintage sheet fat quarters!
The Quilting Booklady has a great book giveaway!

Heard about SEWN?

I guess by now everyone has heard about Sewn, the new sewing blog that will be the website that will have just about everything you can think of that you would want online as a sewer. There are forums, online advice from industry experts, conversion charts, colour wheels, free patterns and class listings.

There will be interviews with all your favorite designers, quilters, patterns makers and authors. There will be tutorials from all over the world, podcasts and coverage from shows and articles about all maner of exciting things.

Best of all, there are great unique gadgets - Fabricmatcher, which is an online tool which lets you match patterns to fabrics and see what your project will look like without sewing a stitch, and Find Fabric, which is the niftiest thing that will find the fabric you are looking for without you having to search for it for hours on the internet. It's so clever it even searches shops in your vicinity first to save you on international postage. How cool is that?

Plus there will be an online buy and sell area called SEWiNg, which is where you can sell the stuff you sew to the people out there who don't sew - and some of the ones who do !

Launch day for SEWN is June 8th so be sure to check out the site! There are great prizes offered plus over 100 blogs are joining in the Launch Party with wonderful giveaways! Go to The Sewn to see all the participating blogs.

TRIFECTA!!!!!!!!!!

I never win anything....well, almost never....because I won, not one, not two, but three, yes, three giveaways from the Sew Mama Sew giveaway! I could not believe it when I received two emails and a comment here. Here are photos of all of my loot!

On the left are the vintage fat quarters from Creative Juice Studios! Jeannine is also including some great scraps she had left over from a quilt she has made. How lucky am I? You are terrific Jeannine!

My next "prize" is a lovely fabric storage container from saraisabee . Isn't it just gorgeous? Now I have to decide what to keep in it! Thank you Sara!

At that point, I was thinking how lucky I had been when another email arrived announcing that I had won stationary from robayre! I love it Robyn.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of the bloggers out there! Thank you all so much!
